Born and raised in the rich culture of Haiti, Nickson Morin who goes by his artistic name Nickozart, is a self-thought artist based in Florida. From the first year of his career, the abstract artist participated at the 14th annual art competition in Pembroke Pines and Chamber South Miami 47th Fine art festival from which he won two awards. His work “the pathway of self-revived” been published in P’AN KU Literary and art magazine. He has also participated in many group exhibitions at studio 18 and has been to Art Beat Miami during art Basel week, for two consecutive years.
Nickson’s paintings are highly influenced by ancient African art. He feels a special attachment with the artworks from these specific eras and places because they help him connect with his origins. Their influences directly shaped his own artistic expressions. He has also been exposed to architecture theory which challenged the way he analyzes his works.
His paintings are started on his computer to bring his creativity into surface. Escorted by his inspiration, he intuitively begins with a single geometric shape that either shares sides or collides with the other shapes around to create delightful figures. As his composition takes forms, he adds symbols to express his reasonings and set colors together based on instant emotions to have a complex dialogue within the work. After he fully resolved the digital image, it is printed on canvas so he can meticulously proceed with oil paint to vitalize the painting.
Nickson is a liberal painter who finds inspiration in many places in his environment. His work is a manifestation of significant geometric forms, symbols, and colors. With his distinguished artistic expression and arduous work process, his abstract paintings evoke a prestigious sense of value, variation, and balance. His oeuvres are the mirroring of his own essence.
