Artist BIO

Emi Subotovsky

Since Emi’s art teacher in high school looked at her work and told her:” You will get far as an artist”, art always accompanied Emi in her life. However, the complexities of life, led her to pursue a career in law in her native Argentina. After moving to the United States and settling in New York, Emi continued to practice law but upon retiring , her creative journey unfolded. Her exploration of abstract art with acrylic paints and mixed media, allowed her to experiment freely and develop her artistic voice. Initially, her work was intuitive, never knowing where the movement of her brushes and knives would take her As she delved deeper into her artistic practice, she felt an urge to push herself and embrace the world of geometric abstraction, a departure from the organic forms that had defined her earlier works . The rigid structure of geometric shapes became a metaphor for the order and structure she looked in her own life, inviting viewers to contemplate the relationship between chaos and order Lately, Emi began exploring the world of monotype printing as a medium for her evolving expression The unpredictability inherent in printmaking provided a counterpoint to the precision of her geometric works The juxtaposition of these two distinct styles allowed her to create a rich tapestry of visual experiences, each piece inviting viewers to engage in a dialogue between intuition and rationality Emi complemented her artistic journey with classes at the New York School York Art Students League in New York City, School of Art of the Boca Raton Museum of Art in Florida, Greenwich Art Society, school off art , and art critique with the renowned Argentinian artist, Paula Rivero. In 2023, to further expand her investigati on of monotype printing ,
Emi began taking classes at Miami International Fine Arts, in Miami, Florida , at Silvermine Arts Center and art the Center for Contemporary Printmaking in Connecticut. Emi resides in both Greenwich, Connecticut and Aventura, Florida, where she continues to explore the interplay between intuition and structure Her story provides an inspiration to those like her embrace a passion for creating art later in life proving it is never too late to explore the boundless possibilities of self expression.
