Artist BIO
Kim DeFrancesco

Kim began her artistic journey at a young age, creating her first mural at 16 and experimenting with sculpture in grade school. Mostly self-taught, she believes this approach has given her the freedom to approach each project with an open mind and a willingness to explore new ideas. After attending the New York School for Interior Design, she launched a successful business, creating over 300 murals and designing interiors for clients.
Throughout her career, Kim’s work has been deeply influenced by her clients’ visions, and she enjoys engaging them in the creative process to produce custom pieces that are uniquely theirs. While she has spent decades as a muralist and designer, Kim now relishes having more time to explore her own artistic expression, seeking new mediums, genres, and inspirations to fuel her creativity.
As a mixed media artist, Kim’s work is centered around the themes of beauty and elegance. Drawing on her extensive experience with faux finishes like gilding, trompe l’oeil, and venetian plaster, she incorporates these techniques into much of her artwork. Her pieces often combine a variety of materials—acrylics, oils, metallic leaf, crystals, paper, and clay, among others—allowing her to express a range of perspectives and ideas. Kim’s unique artistic vision emerges from the process of blending unexpected materials and concepts, creating works that surprise and captivate.
