Silvia Arias

Born and raised in Lima, Peru, Silvia Arias moved to the United States when she was 17 years old. She attended Adelphi University on Long Island, New York, where she received her Bachelor's degree in Science with a minor in Art and a Master's degree in Studio Art. Silvia has worked in various media, including photography, silk screening, sculpture, jewelry, ceramics, watercolor, oil, and acrylic painting. However, her primary focus is painting. Her works have been exhibited in group and solo shows in New York, Florida, and Lima, Peru. Also known as Ms. Arias to her students, Silvia taught art at a private school in NYC and in Florida. She has 27 years of experience as an art educator, teaching children ranging in ages from 4 to 12 years old. Silvia is a painter at heart, with her work primarily focused on self-portraits. Without fear of vulnerability, she embraces her emotions and translates them onto canvas, creating an intimate connection between her conscious self and her psyche. In her work, she incorporates her heritage, life, and experiences, sometimes reflecting on and questioning her life's purpose. During the creative process, she allows the work to guide her. While there is an initial idea of composition and color use, the final outcome is always unknown.
