Celia Gerber is a 21 year old artist from South Florida. She has studied art at Cow House Studios in County Wicklow, Ireland, The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, San Francisco Art Institiute, and The Oxbow School in Napa, California. She is currently pursuing her BFA at Washington University in St. Louis as a Studio Art major with a Sculpture concentration, and double minors in Art History and Film & Media Studies.
Her work explores the memorialization of living loved ones through the recreation, replication, and collaging of imagery in the fear of death and those closest to her. Each work often acts as a memorial to specified places, objects, or persons, although they call upon broader themes of domesticity and the material culture associated with loved ones.
