Peggie “BATIA” Lowenberg is an artist-activator who delivers an upward arc of joyful hope in the current cultural landscape – a salvo of raucous celebration bursting forth with color and life in all their messy splendor.

Lowenberg approaches her bold, action-packed painting, public art projects, and live events with abstract rigor and whimsical immediacy.

Batia’s international sensibility draws on her years in the downtown New York art scene to her living and working on the edge of the Mediterranean in Tel Aviv to her relocation to the multitudinous rhythms and diverse cross-currents of South Florida.  Her educational background includes Cornell University, Purchase College, NY (B.A. 1977) and the School of Visual Arts, NYC.

Batia is currently a resident artist at Zero Empty Spaces-Boca.  She participated in West Palm Beach’s Aesop’s Tables and Global Fairytale Village and currently The Commons Project (2017, 2018, 2020, respectively).  She has designed public art projects for the Broward County Office of Public Communications, Boynton Beach’s Artists Connect Community, and most recently, the Deerfield Beach CRA Pier Improvement Project.

In 2019, Lowenberg was selected to paint live at the ArtFest, Stuart; the Artist Throwdown at the Arts Warehouse, Delray Beach; and WPB’s Business District’s Roam the Road.

In 2016, the Cultural Council of Palm Beach County awarded her the $10,000 Dina Baker Grant.  In 2020, the City of West Palm Beach selected her for The Commons: 15 Artists, 15 Spaces Covid 19 Initiative ($6,000).

Ms. Lowenberg has had solo and group exhibitions here and abroad.  Her artwork is in public and private collections in the US, Israel, Europe, and Asia.  Ms. Lowenberg is also available for private commissions and special events.
