Award-winning interior designer and visual artist, Dalia Berlin was born in Madrid, Spain. Licensed as an interior designer, she has led her own firm Berlin Designs Corp., since 1987. In 2016, Dalia Berlin began her journey as a visual artist, exploring various painting media, collage, and sculpture. Central to her art is a quest to perpetuate the legacy of the magic of Velazquez's iconic painting of "Las Meninas."
"Painting the Meninas is a deep call within my soul. They have the power to carry me through time, making me feel like part of the weave of the Universal chain. As I begin painting, each Menina adopts her own personality and comes alive on the canvas; leaving thus, an indelible imprint that perpetuates Velazquez’s legacy and its infinite message, " says Berlin. The act of extending an iconic image from the past into the present creates a link that transcends time. Combining the language of color, texture and form with the traditional Spanish figure is a way for the artist to communicate passionately about her deep roots in her beloved Spain.
