MARIO LOPEZ PISANI
Mario Lopez Pisani was born in the city of Callao in Lima, Peru, and is a graduate of the BFA program at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. He is currently an arts industry professional in Florida.
Since he migrated to the U.S from Peru in the early 2000s, the artist has been concerned with remembering Peruvian culture, society, and semiotics. Through the luxury and vantage of analyzing these topics from abroad, the work can be a filter between these two places. In this way, the work continues on to explore cultural and political phenomena in American contexts. Ultimately, the opinions shared in the work are susceptible to the passage of time and memory becoming more subjective.
Influences stem from the Italian Arte Povera movement, popular Peruvian comedy shows, and Latin American history, among other subjects.
