BIO
Michelle Rusinek

Painter and mixed-media artist Michelle Rusinek, finds herself drawn to the tactile qualities of paint and collage as well as the textures, colors, and shapes found in nature. During her process, she layers various types of paint with paper, cloth, and tape, and contrasts her explosive layers of color with negative or white space. Rusinek considers this negative space to be representative of mental discipline and boundaries that she chooses to set in order to create “room to breathe” in her work.
Born in 1993 in Ohio, Michelle received her BFA from the University of Michigan Penny Stamps School of Art and Design in 2016 and has studied at The Art Students League of New York. Her work has been shown in various group shows at Christie’s and The Art Students League of New York and has been published in Hel[icon] Literary Mag. In February 2023, she exhibited her work during Art Wynwood in Miami at the Superfine Art Fair.
